Population
In addition to its native population, the United Arab Emirates is inhabited by a mixture of Arab nationals as well as Asians, Europeans, etc. The UAE society is distinguished by a high population growth rate due to rapid economic and social developments. In 1995, the population of the UAE reached 2.4 million while in 2000 the population was estimated at 3.1 million.
The population of Dubai in 1995 stood at 689,000 the majority of whom live in Dubai’s city and suburbs with a small percentage residing in some villages and agricultural areas, while in 2000 the population of Dubai was approximately 862,000.
Language
The official language of the UAE is Arabic according to the constitution of the country, while English is widely spoken especially in business and trade fields. Expatriates use their mother tongues but not at official level.
