Emirates Telecommunications Corporation - Etisalat came into being on 30th August 1976. The Corporation provides telecommunication services to the United Arab Emirates and is one of the leading service providers in the Middle East Region.

Wireless Communication - Etisalat was one of the first to introduce Mobile Telephones in the Middle East in 1982 and launched the GSM Service in September 1994. The subscriber base of 130,000 at the end of 1996 stands currently at well over 2 million.
